Biochar offers the following benefits to your soil and plant health:

  • Replenishes and retains soil nutrients so crops will be more nutrient-dense.
  • Improves cation exchange capacity for greater mineral delivery to plant roots.
  • Increases microbial populations, including increased reproduction and higher retention of microorganisms.
  • Biochar increases production and yields by up to 26%
  • Produces healthy tilth and structure (humus), reducing compaction so soil can breathe.
  • Neutralizes and maintains pH of soil and neutralizes toxins in the soil.
  • Increases the water holding capacity of the soil therefore reducing water usage by up to 40%
  • Improves germination of seedlings.
  • Improves resistance to infestation by fungus, nematodes, and insects.
  • Provides a rich source of carbon to build hummus/organic matter and increase productivity.

In the Springtime we carry BIOCHAR made from ALMOND, REDWOOD and WALNUT in 5 gallon buckets and 1.5 cubic yard totes. We also carried cultured BIOCHAR that is ‘pre-charged’ with nitrogen, humates and mycorrhizal fungi in a 1.5 cubic yard tote.

A suggested application rate would be a minimum of  1 to 10 and worked into the soil at a depth of 12 to 18 inches to affect the active root zone of plants.  BIOCHAR works best if  added a few months prior to planting.
